About the Guest
Mohemed Wahba is an Egyptian comic artist whose practice varies from publishing books, live drawings and panorama exhibitions. In a few years, he became acknowledged internationally and took part in many group exhibitions and participated in many art residencies such as the Angouleme international comics festival residency and cite internationale des arts in Paris. currently, Wahba is working on his biggest project to the moment al-sir- al-hilaliyyah (Banu Hilal) the first Arab comic book that visually depicts the famous Arabic epic oral poem.
About the Talk
In this talk we discussed how it all begins with Wahba, since he started learning sketching by himself till he became one the most known comic artists in his field, We started by passing by his own portfolio and the projects that he have in done in and outside Egypt. We also saw more of his physical sketch books and Discussed some of his stories with them and how he get inspired. He added that sketching is the way that he could express himself with. And he is sketching all the time, everything he's is seeing and living. We discussed briefly the ideas behind his 6 published books till now, and how Cairo as a city is dense material for an artist to be inspired with. He said " Whenever you walk through Cairo, you will find stories surrounding you. And that is not the case in other cities!" and that's why he's passionate about Cairo.
